On Saturday, 19th July 2025, the Confucius Institute was honoured to participate in the 66th Founders’ Day celebrations of the esteemed Starehe Boys Centre and School. This special occasion was graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Humphrey Wattanga, Commissioner General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and brought together a distinguished assembly of alumni, students, and invited guests to reflect on the school’s legacy of excellence and service.
Representing the Confucius Institute were our Directors, Dr. Salome Nyambura and Prof. Zhou Xiaodong, who joined in marking this important milestone. The event highlighted the deepening partnership between the Confucius Institute and Starehe Boys Centre through the Confucius Classroom initiative.
A key highlight of the day was an energetic and captivating martial arts performance, led by Mr. Zhang Shaofan—a lecturer seconded by the Confucius Institute to the Confucius Classroom at Starehe. Mr. Zhang, together with students from the school, delivered a dynamic demonstration that thrilled the audience and embodied the spirit of cultural exchange. Their performance not only showcased discipline and skill but also the power of collaboration across cultures.
The Confucius Institute remains proud to support the Confucius Classroom at Starehe Boys Centre. Through our shared commitment to global education and mutual understanding, we continue to create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with Chinese language and culture, building bridges of friendship and cooperation.
As we celebrate this remarkable occasion with the Starehe community, we look forward to strengthening our partnership and expanding the horizons of cultural learning for future generations.
