On October 2nd, 2025, the Confucius Institute welcomed students, staff, and friends to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China’s most cherished traditional festivals. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Confucius Institute’s Multifunctional Hall buzzed with cultural performances, tasty food, and engaging activities that brought everyone closer to Chinese heritage.
The celebration featured lively performances by Confucius Institute students. They included a heartfelt rendition of the song “May Our Love Last Forever,” an impressive martial arts demonstration, and the graceful “Land of Etiquette” dance.
Each performance highlighted the values of harmony, respect, and togetherness that define Chinese culture. Guests also watched a short video explaining the origins of the Moon Festival. This deepened their appreciation for this special occasion, celebrated every year across China.

Food was a major highlight, with traditional Mid-Autumn treats like Osmanthus Glutinous Rice Balls and Osmanthus Jelly pleasing everyone's palate. The crowd particularly enjoyed the mooncake-making and tasting session, led by Local Director Prof. Leonard Chacha Mwita and Chinese Director Prof. Zhou Xiaodong. Their shared love for Chinese cuisine showcased the unity and cultural appreciation at the heart of the festival.
Attendees also tried their hands at Chinese intangible cultural heritage crafts, such as paper rubbing and paper cutting. A Chinese costume experience added color and authenticity, allowing everyone to dress in beautiful outfits inspired by different dynasties.
Through music, art, food, and hands-on activities, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration created a lively atmosphere of friendship and cultural exchange. The Confucius Institute once again showed its dedication to promoting understanding and appreciation between cultures, making this year's event truly memorable.
